Explosions heard in Ukraine capital Kyiv: AFP

According to AFP journalists, explosions occurred on Saturday night in the center and east of Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine. The Ukrainian air force said that two Russian missiles were their route to the city.

According to an AFP correspondent, air raid sirens went off in the nation’s capital, and at least two flashes were visible against the night sky.

The air defense systems of the city have been activated, according to a post made on Telegram by the military administration of Kiev. Drones are attacking five more districts, according to the Ukrainian air force.

Many Ukrainians have been increasingly worried in recent days that Moscow may conduct airstrikes in retaliation for Kyiv’s recent incursion inside Russian territory.

Regarding potential casualties or damage, Ukrainian officials have not yet provided any information.

Russia has frequently attacked Ukraine with lethal drone and missile airstrikes.

Ukraine has made repeated requests for additional air defense systems from its Western partners.

According to Russian regional governor Alexei Smirnov, debris from a fallen Ukrainian missile struck a building during the night, injuring 13 people in Kursk city, two of them critically.
