Unilever profit edges higher in first half

The British consumer goods major Unilever reported on Thursday that increased sales helped net profit in the first half of the year increase by 4%.

In comparison with the first half of 2023, profit after tax increased to 3.7 billion euros ($4.0 billion), according to an earnings statement from the manufacturer of several items, including as Cif surface cleaner, Dove soap, and Ben & Jerry’s ice cream.

The corporation earlier this year revealed plans to launch a stand-alone ice cream company as part of a significant makeover that would likely cost approximately $7,500 globally and create primarily office-based positions.

At the time of the March announcement, the company employed roughly 128,000 workers worldwide. Over the next three years, the corporation hopes to save 800 million euros.
