President Gustavo Petro of Colombia declared on Saturday that as long as Israel is fighting Hamas in the Gaza Strip, coal exports to that country will be halted.
The socialist leader wrote on X, “Until the genocide stops, we are going to suspend coal exports to Israel.”
May saw the announcement by Petro, who calls Israel’s operation in Gaza “genocidal,” that Colombia would cut diplomatic ties with Israel due to the conflict.
