Today, Bangladesh’s Foreign Minister, Dr. Hasan Mahmud, praised UNICEF’s assistance in helping the country meet the SDG targets linked to maternal and child health.
He said this at the foreign ministry here during a visit from Sheldon Yett, the departing UNICEF country representative.
The foreign minister expressed during the discussion his desire to collaborate with pertinent overseas partners—such as UNICEF—in order to advance child rights and protection in the nation.
In addition, he restated the government of Bangladesh’s resolve to attain universal health coverage by 2030, emphasizing nutrition and healthcare.
The Foreign Minister was briefed by the UNICEF Representative on the organization’s efforts to support the UN Joint Rohingya Response Plan.
In addition, he expressed gratitude to the foreign minister for inviting the UNICEF Executive Director to come to Bangladesh at a time of their choosing this year.
