Malaysia committed to make Bangladeshi workers condition better: Envoy

Haznah Md Hashim, the High Commissioner of Malaysia to Bangladesh, stated today that her government is dedicated to guaranteeing the well-being of Bangladeshi laborers employed in Malaysia.

“We are committed to make it better in the future,” she said during an interaction with the members of the Diplomatic Correspondents Association, Bangladesh (DCAB) at a city hotel here.

She said that the governments of Malaysia and Bangladesh might not be able to regulate certain syndicates.

The envoy stated that her government set the May 31 deadline for Bangladeshi laborers to arrive in Malaysia, and that the deadline was publicized in January of this year.

She stated, “So far, we are sticking on the date (May 31)” in response to a question about whether the deadline will be extended.

She also discussed the Bangladesh-Malaysia Free Trade Agreement (FTA).

“I am confident that it would happen,” she said adding that the Bangladesh can targeting the South East countries with its products through the proposed FTA.

The High Commissioner outlined her nation’s initiatives to provide reasonably priced, top-notch healthcare, education, and tourist services.

The high commissioner emphasized several facets of the two nations’ bilateral relations while pointing out that Malaysia was the first Muslim nation to recognize Bangladesh following its independence.

At the meeting, DCAB President Nurul Islam Hassib also gave a speech.
