Israel orders Spain to stop consular services for Palestinians from June 1

Due to Madrid’s acceptance of a Palestinian state, Israel’s foreign ministry said on Monday that it has instructed the Spanish embassy in Jerusalem to cease providing consular services to Palestinians as of June 1.

Within the consular district of Jerusalem exclusively, the ministry’s statement stated that Spain’s consulate there is “authorised to provide consular services, and is not authorised to provide services or perform consular activity vis-a-vis residents of the Palestinian Authority.”
