Unexpectedly, Marvel Studios’ chief creative officer, Kevin Feige, stole the show at this year’s CinemaCon with some unexpected remarks and a daring reveal of the much awaited “Deadpool and Wolverine.”
A media site reported that this year’s Disney showcase, which is usually a venue for family-friendly presentations, took a raunchy turn with the launch of the R-rated picture starring Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds in the titular characters.
Feige set the tone for the unusual gathering by launching into a tirade during her presentation. Deadpool and Wolverine, dressed in character, talked about rumors about the impending Avengers film as the event got underway.
But when a bothersome cell phone interrupted their teasing, Wolverine let out a barrage of F-bombs directed at the crowd, and the atmosphere swiftly changed.
After the commotion, viewers were given access to nine minutes of carefully edited, spoiler-free content, directed by Shawn Levy and starring Ryan Reynolds.
As per the media outlet, the scenes, filled with double entendres and cheeky references to Hollywood, drew thunderous laughter from the crowd.
Marvel Studios, known for its family-friendly fare, is taking a bold leap with ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’, marking its first foray into R-rated territory and its inaugural project from the recently acquired 20th Century Fox.
Reynolds, in character as Deadpool, proclaimed himself the “Marvel Jesus,” further igniting excitement for the upcoming release slated for 26 July.
Excitement for ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’ is at an all-time high, as the studio is putting everything on this one-of-a-kind production that promises to provide a crazy journey unlike anything seen before in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
