As part of the introduction of its international schedule for the 2024–25 season, Cricket Australia (CA) announced on Tuesday that Perth will host the opening game of a highly anticipated five-Test series against India beginning on November 22.
Next up for the series is a day-night Test in Adelaide, followed by a Test at Brisbane’s Gabba, which has historically served as the starting ground for Australia’s Test summer.
The Boxing Day Test will be played at Melbourne Cricket Ground, and the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series will conclude on January 3 at Sydney Cricket Ground.
It was dubbed “one of the most highly anticipated summers of cricket in memory” by CA Chief Executive Nick Hockley.
“Fittingly, the Border-Gavaskar Trophy has been put on the same footing as the (men’s) Ashes with a five-Test series for the first time since 1991-92,” he said.
Australia have not beaten India in a home series since 2014-2015. The hosts have, however, won all four previous Tests at Perth Stadium.
“We’re confident the schedule will maximise viewership and attendances and there will be a tremendous atmosphere in stadiums across the country,” said Hockley
Dates for Australia’s home One-Day and Twenty20 series against Pakistan in November, which will come before the India Test series, and the Women’s Ashes matchup against arch-rivals England were also disclosed on Tuesday.
Beginning on January 30, 2025, the Women’s Ashes final match will mark the first women’s Test match at the MCG since 1949.
