A meeting was held to review the progress of the project organized by AYAT Education under the ‘Compassionate Narayanganj’ project. The review meeting was held on Monday (March 25) at 11 am in the meeting room of the Civil Surgeon’s office in Narayanganj. Dr. AFM Mushiur Rahman, Civil Surgeon of Narayanganj District, was present as the Chief Guest in the progress review meeting and Chaired by Director Program of AYAT Education Laila Karim. Deputy Director of Family Planning Department Swapan Kumar Sharma, Bandar Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Md. Belayet Hossain were present as Special guests in the meeting, Also Medical Officers of Civil Surgeon Office, Medical Officer of Family Planning Department, Health Education Officers, District Public Health Nurse were present in the meeting.
Sumit Banik, Project Coordinator of AYAT Education, presented the project’s advocacy, community mobilization, and awareness activities in the progress review meeting. Md. Hasan Hafizur Rahman, Field Officer of Compassionate Narayanganj project, journalist Yusuf Ali Pradhan, Volunteer Panna Akter, Assistant Field Officer Sarwar Alam, Community Mobilizer Ananna Rahman and Fahim Hossain of AYAT Education were present in the meeting among others.
Speakers at the review meeting said, “The demand for palliative care is increasing day by day. But despite its demand in our country, there is limited awareness, required manpower and budget allocation for it. The initiatives implemented by AYAT Education to inform the mass people about this issue are really worthy of praise.”
The speakers also said that along with awareness, the treatment program should be made stronger. At the same time, They focused on the importance of working collectively and coordinating way to overcome the challenges. Above all, all those present expressed to extend their cordial support to the project and hope that this project will be further expanded.
