Today, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed concern that although the world is watching the tragedies in Gaza, nothing meaningful is being done to halt them.
She said this this morning when Lt. General Jebreel Alrjoub, the Secretary General of the Fateh Movement (the ruling party) in Palestine, paid her a visit at her official home in Ganabhaban.
Speech by the Prime Minister Following the meeting, writer Md Nazrul Islam gave the reporters a briefing.
Islam claims that the prime minister also harshly criticized human rights organizations for their lack of response to Israel’s onslaught on Gaza, stating, “This is one kind of hypocrisy.”
Sheikh Hasina stressed the necessity of unity among the Muslim Ummah as well.
The prime minister said the Muslims should remain united and “it should be done for the security of the Muslim Ummah and mitigating the misery of the Palestinians”.
She also requested that the 1967 decision, which said that East Jerusalem would serve as Palestine’s capital, be followed.
The prime minister reaffirmed her unshakable support for the Palestinian people and denounced the Israeli forces’ attacks on hospitals and the thousands of deaths in Gaza, particularly those of women and children.
She also called for a quick ceasefire in Gaza and offered her condolences for the deaths there.
Sheikh Hasina stated that Bangladesh had previously twice used Egypt to send relief supplies to the Palestinian people.
