Stefan Liller, the UNDP’s resident representative for Bangladesh, stated today that the organization would aid Bangladesh in continuing its progress toward development, particularly through a number of initiatives linked to LDC graduation.
He stated that the UNDP would provide more assistance in technical and training operations in Bangladesh in this regard.
According to a news release from the Ministry, the UNDP resident representative made these comments during a courtesy call on State Minister for Commerce Ahsanul Islam Titu in his secretariat office.
During the meeting, the state minister said that the government is working to bring in worthy entrepreneurs and products from across the country into the national stage and in the export market. After the Prime Minister named “handicrafts” the product of the year, Ahsanul stated that the government has been assiduously focusing on handicrafts. “Now the skilled workers of such products and their position will be recognized.”
The state minister stated that items will be connected to e-commerce in addition to the current market to increase exports, pointing out that e-commerce is a very important medium in the expansion of export.
“The government will provide technical and financial support to the entrepreneurs,” he added. Commerce Ministry additional secretary Mohammad Navid Shafiullah, UNDP assistant resident representatives Anowar Haque, Sardar M Asaduzzaman, Ministry joint secretary Nahid Afroz and deputy secretary M Rafiqul Islam were present, among others, on the occasion.
