Ramadan is to begin on March 10 or 11, depending on the lunar calendar.
King Abdullah II of Jordan issued a warning on Sunday, threatening to start a wider regional conflict if Israel continues its military operation in the Gaza Strip in March, the Muslim holy month of Ramadan
Abdullah spoke “of the continuation of the war on Gaza during the holy month of Ramadan, which will increase the threat of expanding the conflict,” according to Jordan’s official Petra news agency, during a meeting with Palestinian President Mahmud Abbas.
Israel has issued a warning, stating that it will continue fighting during the holy month of Ramadan, especially in Rafah along the Egyptian border, where around 1.4 million Gazans have taken refuge, if Iran-backed Hamas militants do not release the remaining hostages held in Gaza by the start of the holy month.
According to state-affiliated Egyptian media on Sunday, talks for a ceasefire in Gaza have restarted in Doha. However, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that a ceasefire would not stop an offensive in Rafah.
He claimed that Israel would achieve “total victory” over Hamas in a matter of weeks, as Hamas’ strike on Israel on October 7 set off the conflict.
