Nepal has indicated that it is eager to use the seaports of Chattogram, Mongla, and Payra in Bangladesh. It has also placed a specific emphasis on freight transit via the land port of Banglabandha, after the usage of the seaport at Mongla.
Ghanshyam Bhandari, the ambassador of Nepal to Dhaka, paid State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury a courtesy call at the Secretariat office today and conveyed the interest of his nation.
The envoy stated that there are many Nepalese students studying in Bangladesh and that there is a great deal of contact between Bangladesh and Nepal.
According to Ghanshyam Bhandari, Nepal uses parts of India to transport freight via the land ports of Banglabandha and Burimari.
Khalid Mahmud said they discussed how Nepal can connect with Bangladesh by-road through using 23-km land of India.
Bangladesh, Nepal, and India would collaborate to use the corridor, according to the state minister.
He claimed that during her visit to India, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina spoke about the issue. Khalid continued, “If the route is introduced, it will help expand business and trade.”
He stated that talks to increase trade and business along the route are currently taking place between the two nations at the prime ministerial level.
