Jennifer Lopez plans to produce Bob the Builder film set in Puerto Rico

As “Roberto” in a movie that she and singer Jennifer Lopez will co-produce, the children’s TV favorite Bob the Builder will travel to Puerto Rico.

The news follows closely on the heels of Barbie, another Mattel icon, being a big office hit.

“Can we fix it? ” is the slogan of Roberto/Bob. Yes, we can!” will be narrated by Anthony Ramos, star of Hamilton.

According to Mattel, the movie will “dig deeper into what it means to build” and honor the Latin American countries of the Caribbean.

In 1999, Bob the Builder made its BBC TV debut and continued for twelve seasons.

The happy construction worker was voiced by Neil Morrissey, star of Men Behaving Badly and Line of Duty, and appeared on international channels such as Nick Jr. and PBS Kids.

In 2015, as part of a Channel 5 makeover that replaced stop-motion with computer-generated animation, our Zoo actor Lee Ingleby voiced Bob in the UK.

Bob, his coworker Wendy, and his pals “work together to get the job done” in the program.

Ramos, who is also a co-producer, said he was “proud” to add elements of life “inspired by my own”.

He said it would be “a movie about friends working together, a celebration of a beautiful home they share, and how love can help to conquer any obstacle in your way”.
