Beginning on January 20 (Saturday), the most efficient and cutting-edge commuter train for urban residents, known as the “Dhaka Metro rail,” will run on the Uttara-Motijheel route from dawn to night.
“The metro rail will operate on Uttara-Motijheel route from 7:10 am to 8:40 pm,” according to Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) official notification issued today.
The first train to depart Uttara for Motijheel is scheduled to depart at 7:10 am and would run till 8:30 pm, while the last train is scheduled to depart Motijheel at 8:40 pm, according to MAN Siddique, Managing Director of Dhaka Mass Transit Company Ltd.
According to the notification, the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) Line-6 is currently run on the Uttara-Motijheel part from 7:30 am to 11:30 am and on the Uttara-Agargaon section from 7:10 am to 8:00 pm.
Previously, on November 4, 2023, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina officially opened the second section of the much anticipated metro rail service from Agargaon to Motijheel.
On the other hand, the stations in Shahbagh and Karwan Bazar opened on December 31, while the stations in Dhaka University and Bijoy Sarani opened on December 13.
On December 28, 2022, Bangladesh’s Prime Minister dedicated the nation’s first elevated metro train, running from Uttara to Agargaon, ushering in a new era for the nation.
