Given the rising COVID-19 infection rate nationwide, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) National Covid-19 Vaccine Management Taskforce recommended today that a vaccination program be started.
The National Covid-19 Vaccine Management Taskforce suggested in a statement that a new order be issued to begin a vaccination campaign to receive first, second, and booster doses.
As per the statement, eight hospitals in Dhaka city would initially deliver the booster dose, which consists of the third and fourth dose of the Pfizer vaccine.
The eight hospitals are Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU), Dhaka Medical College Hospital, Kurmitola General Hospital, Sir Salimullah Medical College Mitford Hospital, Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital, Mugda Medical College Hospital, Sheikh Russel National Gastroliver Institute and Hospital and Government Employee’s Hospital, Fulbaria.
To stop the fatal virus from spreading, a COVID-19 immunization program will thereafter be phased into operation in public hospitals nationwide as well as specialty hospitals.
Healthcare workers, the elderly (60 years of age and older), those with chronic illnesses, and expectant mothers will be the first to receive the COVID vaccine, according to the statement.
