Since the dinner event last week near Nantes, in the northwest of the country, around 700 employees of Airbus Atlantic in France have experienced vomiting or diarrhea.
Following a widespread case of food poisoning during a Christmas party that sickened hundreds of Airbus Atlantic employees, the French health agency ARS has opened an investigation.
More than 700 attendees of the dinner event, according to the government, displayed “clinical signs of vomiting or diarrhea.”
At the meal on December 14 at the company’s offices in Montoir-de-Bretagne, close to Nantes in the northwest, ARS did not disclose the menu.
The agency reports that during the next two days, the workers were ill, although nobody was admitted to the hospital.
The employees were reportedly given an online form to fill out in order to report their symptoms, according to the local media.
On social media, some employees conjectured that the goat milk-based Rocamadour cheese might have been the cause. Nevertheless, no formal statement regarding the reason was given right away.
Local media said that employees wanted to enjoy the Christmas-themed meal, therefore the business restaurant was busier than normal that day.
15,000 people are employed by Airbus Atlantic, a division of the European aircraft company Airbus, in five nations. 134,000 people work at the airplane manufacturer worldwide.
