On Thursday, December 14, at 11 a.m., in the meeting room of the Narayanganj Press Club, a networking meeting was held with the journalists of the Narayanganj Press Club on palliative care of incurable patients, organized by Ayat Education under the Mamatamoy Narayanganj Project.
Project Coordinator of Ayat Education, Sumit Banik, conducted the meeting, and Narayanganj Press Club General Secretary Rafiqul Islam Jibon presided over the meeting. Nahid Azad, Tamiz Uddin Ahmed, permanent member of Narayanganj Press Club, AKM Mahfuzur Rahman, correspondent of Bangladesh Television, Rafiqul Islam Rafiq, Correspondent of Baisakhi TV, Pronab Roy, Photojournalist of Daily Sangbad, RTV Representative Md. Anwar Hossain, Imtiaz Ahmed, City Editor of Daily Shitalakshya, Biswajit Das, Senior Staff Reporter of Daily Sanbadchorcha, Mamunur Rahman, Senior Staff Reporter of Narayanganj Times and many others were present.
Sumit Banik said in his speech, “Momtamoy Narayanganj is a community-based palliative care initiative that is working towards providing palliative care to the people under the coverage of Narayanganj City Corporation and Bandar Upazila, as well as integrating palliative care into the mainstream health system. The main objective of this project on palliative care is to build a compassionate social service structure where terminally ill patients and their families can get medical care and support at low cost. Media workers are partners in the development of the country. We believe that it is only through media workers that it is possible to inform everyone about the importance of palliative care and the scope of services.
The General Secretary of Narayanganj Press Club, Rafiqul Islam Jibon said, ‘The initiative of this project with palliative care patients, including those on the way to death, is commendable. We will try to spread the information about this service as much as we can, and we will continue to make every effort to reach this service at all levels.
Mamtamoy Narayanganj Project Field Officer, Hasan Hafizur Rahman said, “We are conducting medical services in the Narayanganj City Corporation area and Bandar Upazila under the Mamtamoy Narayanganj project. We want to spread the message of this service to everyone through media coverage or your writing. So that especially poor and genuine patients are not deprived of the opportunity of this service.
After presenting the speech, the Narayanganj Press Club journalists presented their opinions in the question-answer session. Press club manager Masum Billah was also present in the meeting. Assistant Project Officer Md. Sarwar Alam, Community Mobilizer Ananna Rahman, and Fahim Hossain were present on behalf of Ayat Education.
