Metro train commuters will be able to use the Dhaka University and Bijoy Sarani stations from December 13 as the two stations will be ready for operation in a day or two.
“Dhaka University and Bijoy Sarani stations of the metro rail are ready for operation . . . we’ve planned to open these two important stations for commuters on December 13,” Managing Director of Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) MAN Siddique told media here today.
He said the duration of metro services on the Agargaon-Motijheel route will remain same.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the Agargaon -Motijheel route on November 4, after the launching of metro service between Uttara and Agargaon on 28 December last year.
Three of the seven stations on Agargaon-Motijheel route, namely — Farmgate, Bangladesh Secretariat and Motijheel were opened on November 4.
With the opening of Dhaka University and Bijoy Sarani stations, commuters will be able to use a total of five stations on Agargaon-Motijheel section.
