President returns home after overseas treatment

This evening, President Mohammed Shahabuddin, who had his heart bypass surgery on October 18 at the National University Hospital in Singapore, returned home.

At 6:07 p.m., a commercial aircraft operated by Biman Bangladesh Airlines Limited, carrying the President, his spouse Dr. Rebecca Sultana, and other members of their entourage, touched down at Hazrat Shahjalal (R.) International Airport (HISA).

The President was met at the airport by senior civil and military officials, Minister of Liberation War Affairs AKM Mozammel Huq, Foreign Minister Dr. AK Abdul Momen, dean of the diplomatic corps, cabinet secretary, chiefs of the three services, principal secretary to the Prime Minister’s Office, Public Security Division Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Inspector General of Police (IGP), consul of Singapore in Bangladesh, and other concerned parties.

In the meantime, on October 16, the Head of State took a plane to Singapore to have a heart bypass operation, which was overseen by renowned cardiac surgeon Professor Dr. Kofidis Theodoros of the National University Hospital in this country.
