An Egyptian official at the Rafah border crossing told AFP that the first group of foreign passport holders will be permitted to depart the Gaza Strip, which has been devastated by conflict, for Egypt on Wednesday.
“A first group of foreign passport holders is going to pass through the Rafah terminal to Egypt on Wednesday,” the official said, speaking on condition of anonymity.
According to Egyptian and Palestinian officials, television channels with close ties to the Egyptian intelligence services carried live footage of a fleet of ambulances arriving at the terminal from the Egyptian side, ready to take out 81 seriously injured Palestinians for treatment in Egyptian hospitals.
