Putin has no plan to attend G20 summit in person

Vladimir Putin, the president of Russia, will not be physically present at the G20 conference in India in September, the Kremlin announced on Friday.

Putin is wanted for questioning by the International Criminal Court (ICC) on charges of war crimes committed in Ukraine, which the Kremlin vehemently contests. He now runs the possibility of being detained while traveling abroad.

He participated in this week’s BRICS leaders’ meeting in South Africa via video link rather than in person.
