TCB to sell commodities at subsidized prices on Sunday

As part of its selling activities for the month of August, the government-run Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) will begin selling critical commodities on Sunday at discounted prices.

The roughly 10 million family card holders across the nation who are served by the TCB will purchase these necessities.

Tipu Munshi, the minister of commerce, will formally open business on the Town Hall Market’s west side road in the Mohammadpur neighborhood of the city.

Speaking to BSS on Saturday, TCB spokesperson Humayun Kabir said that about 10 million family card members would be able to purchase rice, lentils, and edible oil for discounted prices throughout the month of August.

The owners of family cards will be able to purchase these things from the specified distributors or places in their respective areas.

One family card holder could only purchase a maximum of 5kg of rice, thus the Directorate General of Food began selling rice at reduced prices last month in addition to the TCB’s operations.

According to Humayun, a family card holder could purchase up to two liters of soybean oil for Tk 100 per liter, two kilograms of lentils for Tk 60 per kilogram, and five kilograms of rice for Tk 30 per kilogram.

He stated that rice would be supplied by the Directorate General of Food in accordance with the TCB dealers’ needs.

The dealers would then transport rice to their appointed locations and distribute it among family card holders.
