Taylor Swift confirmed additional Toronto dates for her much-anticipated world tour on Thursday, following Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s request that she not skip Canada.
Swift will perform six gigs as part of her “Eras Tour” in Canada’s largest city, according to concert sponsor Rogers Communications, and tickets for the November 2024 dates will go on sale soon.
Swift added on Instagram, “Turns out it’s NOT the end of an era.”
“Miami, New Orleans, Indy and Toronto: The Eras Tour is coming to you in 2024,” she said, with a photo listing the Canada stops as November 14-16 and 21-23.
Swift also announced that Gracie Abrams, the daughter of film director J.J. Abrams, will perform.
Swift’s initial omission of Canada from the tour schedule had profoundly saddened her Canadian supporters, and Trudeau evidently couldn’t shake it.
Trudeau invited Swift last month in a tweet using Swift’s song lyrics to fill the void and play in America’s northern neighbor.
“It’s me, hi. I know places in Canada would love to have you,” Trudeau said in a message on the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, that quickly went viral. “So, don’t make it another cruel summer. We hope to see you soon.”
The musician had recently announced that she will be adding extra dates to her regularly sold-out tour, which began in March in Arizona.
She has over 100 concerts planned throughout the United States, Mexico, Europe, Asia, and Australia, but not in Canada. Swift feared becoming an anti-hero in famously pleasant Canada as a result of the bad blood.
In June, a conservative senator decried the singer’s “lack of respect for the country” and urged her to spare some dates for Canada.
Swift’s comeback was the top story in most Canadian newspapers on Thursday.
She last visited Canada in 2018.
