Smith, who averages over 93 at The Oval, was 40 not out before lunch, while Travis Head was undefeated on 31.

Express yourself quickly Mark Wood then caught Marnus Labuschagne in the slips for 13 to leave Australia with a 2-1 lead in the Ashes, 169-3.
Australia resumed on 135-0, seeking its first Ashes series victory in England since 2001. Warner was 58 not out, while Khawaja was 69 not out.
