Lee Hodges shot two eagles in a four-under-par 67 on Sunday to win his first US PGA Tour victory by seven strokes in the 3M Open in Blaine, Minnesota.
Hodges ended with a 24-under par total of 260 at TPC Twin Cities, where he’d built a seven-shot lead over playing partner J.T. Poston before Poston’s tragic triple-bogey on the final hole.
Poston, who shot a two-under 69, was tied for second with Kevin Streelman and Martin Laird of Scotland. Streelman shot a 66, while Laird shot a seven-under-par 64, which included five birdies and a 20-foot eagle at 18.
None of them looked like they could catch Hodges, who started the day with a five-shot lead.
After a birdie at the second and an eagle at the sixth, when his 255-yard approach with a three-wood left him with an 11-foot putt, he increased his lead to seven.
After a bogey on the ninth, he eagled the par-five 12th with a three-wood, landing his 257-yard second shot within three feet.
