Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu left the hospital on Monday following a procedure to implant a pacemaker in him, according to the Sheba Medical Center.
Netanyahu left “five minutes ago,” the hospital’s spokeswoman informed AFP. The Israeli prime minister had spent Sunday night in the hospital.
Israelis, meanwhile, who were stunned to find that their longest-serving prime minister had disguised a long-known heart condition, were not reassured by the Sunday picture op. The admission stood in stark contrast to Netanyahu’s efforts to project an image of a totally healthy, active leader.
Netanyahu’s heartbeat was quickly controlled by a pacemaker a week after he experienced a fainting spell. Staff at the Sheba Medical Center didn’t admit Netanyahu had a disease that could lead to irregular heartbeats until that point in the evening on Sunday.
