Saiful Bari Titu, a former national team coach, has been appointed head coach of Bangladesh’s women’s football squad for the 2019 Asian Games in China.
For the past few months, there have been issues with the women’s football team’s coaches. In the just finished friendly series against Nepal, Mahbubur Rahman Litu served as interim coach. The Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) has decided to assign Titu leadership over the women’s squad in order to resolve the situation.
Speaking to the media today (Wednesday), BFF women’s wing Harman Mahfuza Aktar Kiran said: “The Asian Games and the AFC U-17 tournament will take place at a specific time in September.” We need separate coaches because the two competitions will be held concurrently. Titu will be in charge of the Asian Games, while Litu will oversee the U-17 competition.
The Asian Games have been granted to Titu, but BFF is still looking for a long-term coach for Sabina and company.
Kiron said: “We have already sent letter in Japan and Korea …. I am personally communicating with these two countries to get list of the coach so that we can chose a coach after checking their qualification.”
Golam Robanni Choton, the former coach of the women’s squad, has repeatedly been invited to join the team but has declined, thus there is now no scope, according to Kiran.
