PM Sheikh Hasina receives eye treatment at NIO as general patient

The Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina paid TK 10 for a ticket to the National Institute of Ophthalmology and Hospital (NIO), where she underwent eye surgery today, reports BSS.

According to a news statement from the Prime Minister’s news Wing, she greeted all of the patients and their family members, as well as the physicians, nurses, and staff members who came to the hospital for treatment. She also posed for photos as she left the facility after having treatment.

The Prime Minister noticed Rabbi, a little youngster, standing in the middle of the crowd. She walked up to Rabbi with kindness and affection, asking him about the young boy’s activities, the people he came to the hospital with, and the grade he is in.

The 11-year-old said that he works at the canteen of the hospital and lives there as well. His father is dead. He studied up to class two before joining the canteen.

The boy appealed to the Prime Minister, “I want to go back to my mother in Chandpur. I want to resume my studies.”

When the Prime Minister heard Rabbi’s heartbreaking tale, she clearly started to cry.

She assumed responsibility for paying for his tuition and instructed the relevant officials to take the appropriate steps and carry it out correctly.
