Madonna hospitalised for several days, tour postponed

Madonna is recovering from a “serious bacterial infection” that left her in an intensive care unit for several days, according to her manager Guy Oseary, who issued a statement Wednesday.

“Her health is improving, however she is still under medical care,” he said. “A full recovery is expected.”

The 64-year-old pop icon’s “Celebrations” tour, which was scheduled to begin on July 15 in Vancouver, Canada, has been postponed until further notice, according to Oseary.

According to the New York Post’s Page Six website, the pop diva was rushed to a metropolitan hospital after getting ill.

Her virtually sold-out global tour was promoted as a tribute to Madonna’s more than four-decade career, and her website included 84 concert dates.

Detroit, Chicago, Miami, and New York, the city where her epic ascent to superstardom began, were among the stops in the United States.

She was then scheduled to perform across Europe, including London, Barcelona, and Paris, as well as four concerts in Mexico City.

The Grammy-winning megastar behind hits like ‘Like a Virgin’ has wielded enormous power during her successful career as one of music’s biggest stars.

Her manager promised to send further information as soon as it became available, including a new start date for the tour and rescheduled gigs, in a social media message.
