Arjun Tendulkar made his Indian Premier League debut on Sunday, bowling for the Mumbai Indians, a side led by his father, the legendary batsman Sachin Tendulkar.
The 23-year-old left-hander, who is over six feet (1.83 metres) tall, was dealt the new ball in the match against Kolkata Knight Riders at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium.
He joined the five-time IPL champions Mumbai in 2021 after making his T20 debut for the state team the previous year, but this was his first selection for the franchise.
After relocating to the western state last year, the paceman has played seven first-class matches for Goa.
His father, who has nearly god-like reputation in cricket-crazy India, began his career with the Mumbai state junior squad before being called up to the senior team at the age of 15.
He made his debut for India in 1989 and went on to become the top Test scorer of all time, as well as the first player to score 100 international hundreds. He left the company in 2013.
