Tomorrow, the country will observe the 53rd anniversary of its independence and National Day.
On the eve of the day, the president, Md. Abdul Hamid, and the prime minister, Sheikh Hasina, will each deliver a distinct message.
The day’s events will start with gun salutes in the early morning as a sign of deep respect for this nation’s valiant struggle. This nation endured a protracted period of subjugation under foreign rule before achieving their coveted Independence in 1971.
With the rising of the sun, the national flag will be flown atop all public, semi-public, autonomous, and private structures. All city roadways and significant intersections will also be festooned with multicolored and national miniature flags.
Bands of different forces will play music at different important points in Dhaka.
Important buildings and establishments as well as city streets and islands will be illuminated with colourful lights.
The National Martyrs’ Memorial at Savar will be the main venue of the day’s celebration.
In a show of profound reverence for the martyrs’ memories, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and President Md. Abdul Hamid will lay wreaths early in the morning.
The morning of the following day, wreaths will be laid at the national monument by people from all walks of life, including the families of Bir Shreshthas, combat injured freedom fighters, members of the diplomatic corps, leaders of various political parties, and social, cultural, and professional organizations.
