On Friday, the United States unveiled a brand-new $400 million security assistance plan for Ukraine that includes a range of ammunition for Kyiv’s forces.
“This military assistance package includes more ammunition for US-provided HIMARS and howitzers, which Ukraine is using so effectively to defend itself,” the US State Department said in a statement, referring to precision rocket systems and artillery pieces.
Armored vehicle-launched bridges and ammunition for Bradley infantry fighting vehicles are also included in the package. These bridges can be used to traverse rivers and other water obstacles.
The United States has taken the lead in promoting international assistance for Ukraine, organizing aid from numerous nations and rapidly forming an international coalition to support Kyiv after Russia invaded the country in February 2022.
In addition to Patriot air defense systems and modern heavy tanks, which were ultimately promised, Kiev has pressed for other items like Western fighter aircraft, which have not yet been delivered.
Supporters of Ukraine are educating the nation’s soldiers on the new equipment they are receiving, and US forces launched a program centered on larger-scale exercises in January.
