Tamim Iqbal, the skipper of Bangladesh’s ODI team, asserted that the atmosphere in the locker room is typical and excellent.
Following the strained ties between the team’s two major stars, Shakib Al Hasan and Tamim Iqbal, BCB president Nazmul Hassan Papon described the national team’s locker room as “unhealthy.”
Even though Tamim didn’t deny that he and Shakib had a tense relationship, he made it obvious that their on-field chemistry was sufficient to write many of Bangladesh’s success stories.
“I think the team environment is very good. And see the result we have been doing well in ODI cricket for the last five/six years. We won most of the series in this period. You can only achieve success when the dressing room environment stays good. I don’t see any difference, everything here is normal,” Tamim said.
In an interview with a cricket website, BCB President Nazmul Hassan Papon stated that he attempted to resolve the issue between the two but to no avail.
The BCB president added that he hopes to witness an increase in their chemistry during the upcoming home series against England. He felt that it was insufficient for them to communicate only during games and not off the field.
Tamim was tactful in his interactions with Shakib, but he didn’t deny their strained relationship during the 30-minute news conference.
