As soon as Chandika Hathurusinghe was hired as the Tigers’ head coach, he began working with the Australian national team before traveling back to Bangladesh.
On February 20, when he is expected to arrive in Bangladesh, he will formally sign a two-year contract with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).
His second game in Bangladesh will start on March 1 with the England series.
Hathurusinghe started following the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) T20 event after deciding to take over the Tigers’ coaching duties in order to learn more about the players.
Taskin Ahmed, a fast bowler for Bangladesh, claimed that the 54-year-old coach had already spoken with the team and explained his objectives.
“He has already talked with everyone. He shared his plan and made it clear what will be the role of the bowlers and batters in the coming days to reach the desired destination,” Taskin said in an event in the city today.
In the coming month, Bangladesh will face the world champions England in three ODIs (part of the ICC ODI Super League) and three T20 Internationals. For these two cricket formats, the Tigers had two separate captains.
Taskin reported that Hathurusinghe also spoke with the two commanders.
Taskin appeared noticeably thrilled, despite the fact that the cricket community is bitterly divided over Hathurusinghe’s decision to return to Bangladesh.
