The “Posts and Telecommunications Award 2023” was given to Nagad, a mobile financial service provided by the Bangladesh Post Office, in recognition of its excellent contributions to technological advancements in the country’s mobile financial service sector.
At the Digital Bangladesh Mela-2023 yesterday, Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar presented the awards to Muhammad Solaiman, director of Corporate Communications at Nagad, and Muhammad Zahidul Islam, head of Public Communications at Nagad.
According to a news release issued today, the exhibition, which was hosted at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center, was intended to highlight IT and IT enabled services (ITES) goods and services in Bangladesh.
“Nagad has brought a revolution in the mobile financial market through many customer-friendly innovations, especially its easy account opening process through e-KYC on Smartphone or by simply dialing *167# on basic phones,” said Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar in his remarks as the ceremony’s chief guest.
“This mobile money service of the Postal Department has shown the innovative power that we are talking about. That is why we have honored it,” he noted.
Muhammad Solaiman stated after earning the honor: “Any award win brings with it a tremendous deal of pride. Additionally, it represents success for the entire nation. Nagad strives to provide customers with ongoing customer-centric innovations and reasonably priced services.”
The three-day “Digital Bangladesh Mela 2023” concluded with a ceremony presided over by Abu Hena Morshed Zaman, Secretary of Posts and Telecommunications. Special guests included BTRC Chairman Shyam Sunder Sikder and Rezwan Ahamed Taufiq, Member of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Post, Telecommunications and Information Technology Ministry.
In addition to booths for other organizations, Nagad had a lovely booth during the event. People from all social classes flocked to the stall to inquire about the various features and services offered by Nagad.
The Posts and Telecommunications Award 2023 was first presented this year by the Posts and Telecommunications Division.
