Ukraine’s army retakes 30 settlements in northeast: Zelensky

Volodymyr Zelensky, the president of Ukraine, announced on Friday that his nation’s military had retaken control of 30 settlements from Russian forces in the Kharkiv region’s northeast.

“As of today, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have liberated and taken control of more than 30 settlements in Kharkiv” region, he said.

According to accounts, Ukrainian forces used HIMARS rocket systems supplied by the US to strike around 400 Russian targets in the Kharkiv region alone, where they reportedly advanced 50 kilometers into the territory taken by Russian forces.

“We are seeing real and measurable gains from Ukraine in the use of these systems. For example, the Ukrainians have struck over 400 targets with the HIMARS and they’ve had a devastating effect,” reported news agency Reuters quoting General Mark Milley, the Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, as saying.
