Putin attends military exercises involving Chinese forces: Kremlin

Tuesday saw President Vladimir Putin participate in significant military drills with China and a number of other nations that are friendly to Russia, according to Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.

At the Sergeevski military range, Putin was having a discussion with the defense minister and the chief of staff of the armed forces, Valery Gerasimov, according to Peskov. He would later be able to watch the culmination of the military drills.

Putin was meeting with Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and military chief of staff Valery Gerasimov at the Sergeevski military range and could observe the final phase of the military exercises later, Peskov was quoted as saying.

The Vostok-2022 military exercises, which began on September 1, are scheduled to last through September 7 on a number of training fields in Russia’s Far East and in the waters off its eastern coast.

Moscow claims that the drills will involve more than 50,000 soldiers and more than 5,000 pieces of military hardware, including 140 planes and 60 ships.
