Shakib Al Hasan’s agreement with Betwinner is being terminated. He has already written a letter to them after getting a severe warning from BCB.
Shakib revealed the arrangement with Betwinner News in a Facebook post a few days ago. That news website is linked to a betting-related company. The BCB chief issued a severe warning in this regard. He also issued a warning that if the contract was not terminated, he would have no further involvement with Bangladesh Cricket.
At his Beximco office on Thursday, he told reporters, “It is not conceivable to have any kind of engagement. He has to come out of it completely. Otherwise, he will not be in our squad…in the team, captaincy is the next step. There is no opportunity to stay in the arrangement. There is no discussion about it. This decision is taken in advance. And we are very clear about this.’
“Shakib must have to come out, Papon declared, adding that this is his only option. He won’t be on our team if it happens. After receiving such a critical message from Papon, Shakib terminated his contract with Betwinner.
The issue was confirmed by a BCB director. He said to the press, “I heard Shakib sent a letter. I haven’t read it yet, though. I will read it when I get home. I did learn that it had been canceled, though.
