Bin Feng of China wins the women’s discus world championship

China’s Feng Bin won the international discus championship on Wednesday with a huge personal best throw of 69.12 meters on her first attempt.

It increased her previous record of 66.00m set in Beijing in April by more than three meters.

With 68.45m, Sandra Perkovic of Croatia, a two-time Olympic champion and two-time world gold medalist, won silver.

Olympic gold medalist Valarie Allman of America captured bronze with 68.30m.

Yaime Perez of Cuba, the reigning world champion, came in sixth (63.07).
