Freelancers in Bangladesh will soon be able to receive money from all over the world directly to their bKash account via Payoneer.
According to a press release, the 24/7 real-time payment service would add dynamism to the flourishing freelancing industry and speed up the flow of remittance through legal routes into the country.
On Thursday, Payoneer, a US-based commerce technology company that powers payments and growth for the new global economy, Brac Bank, a leading private commercial bank in Bangladesh, and bKash, Bangladesh’s largest mobile financial services provider, held a virtual event to jointly launch the service.
The service was opened by Zunaid Ahmed Palak, State Minister for Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
Russel T. Ahmed, President of BASIS; Rohit Kulkarni, Regional Senior Vice President of Payoneer and Robert Clarkson, Chief Revenue Officer of Payoneer; Selim R. F. Hussain, Managing Director & CEO of BRAC Bank and Kamal Quadir, Chief Executive Officer of bKash, as well as senior officials from their respective companies, attended the event.
Bangladesh is a global powerhouse when it comes to ICT freelancing services, according to the Oxford Internet Institute’s Online Labor Index.
