Suranga Lakmal, a veteran Sri Lankan fast bowler, will retire from international cricket when the team’s tour of India concludes next month, according to officials.
In a 68-Test career, the 34-year-old fast bowler has 168 wickets and has captained Sri Lanka in five of them.
Lakmal, who made his Test debut in 2010, will be available for selection for the two Tests in India, according to officials.
The first match will take place on February 25.
“If the selectors consider him for the tour,” Sri Lanka Cricket Chief Executive Officer Ashley de Silva said he was looking forward to seeing Lakmal perform in India.
