Symphony plans to sell smartphones made in Bangladesh in Nepal

Symphony is the second local business to sell ‘Made in Bangladesh’ cellphones outside of Bangladesh.

According to reports, the first shipment of the mobile handset brand would arrive in Nepal on Sunday.

At an event conducted on Saturday at the Symphony plant in Ashulia, the capital’s post and telecommunications minister, Mustafa Jabbar, officially launched the Symphony mobile export.

“We are planning to take our handsets to the smartphone market of five more countries including Vietnam, Sri Lanka and the Maldives by 2022,” said Jakaria Shahid, managing director of Edison Group, the parent company of Symphony.

Previously, on March 1, 2020, local tech firm Walton exported its first shipment of smartphones to the United States from its Gazipur plant, marking a watershed moment for the country.
