The ‘Smartphone and Tab Expo-2022’ has started yesterday from 10 am to give the users of the country the opportunity to experience and buy modern smartphones and tablet computers.
This three-day fair will continue till Saturday at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center located in the capital. The fair will remain open every day till 8 pm.
Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar officially inaugurated the Expo at 4 pm today as the Chief Guest at Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC).
Speaking as the Chief Guest, Mustafa Jabbar said, “For the first time, there is an opportunity for all interested visitors to get 5G experience at this event. Anyone can take this experience from the Teletalk Bangladesh stall. Besides, I can proudly say that most of the smartphones displayed at this event are being manufactured in Bangladesh.” He went on to say while talking about the ICT sector, “I have been doing multi-faceted activities for the last 35 years by being involved in the ICT sector. We have come a long way, riding on the visionary thinking of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Hopefully, we will be able to go farther if we keep walking on the same path.”
He thanked the organizers for giving everyone the opportunity to experience 5G for the first time at this event. “We launched 5G in Bangladesh on December 12 last year, and today, on January 06, the people of Bangladesh are experiencing 5G live here at the Smartphone and Tab Expo 2022 for the first time. I thank Teletalk and Huawei for this. Another inspiring thing I saw in 2019 is that Huawei has more than 5,000 patents in the telecommunications sector. In Bangladesh, we can use them effectively,” he stated.
Tao Guangyao, Chief Operating Officer of Huawei Technologies (Bangladesh) Limited, said, “ICT investment will bring about 1% of GDP growth. From the perspective of investment efficiency, investment in Digitalization and ICT, the efficiency is 6.7 times that of other domain-in-ICT. Huawei has witnessed and participated in the magnificent development of mobile communications in Bangladesh. In the future, we will proactively introduce mature 5G 2B use cases to Bangladesh and help 5G take root in local society.”
Mohammad Khan, CEO of Maker Communications and the organizer of the Expo, shared, “We feel elated to organize the Expo for once again. This year, there is an opportunity for everyone to experience 5G for the first time. Including this year’s Expo, we have organized a total of 35 Expos, and we always want to create opportunities for visitors so that they can experience new things. At the Expo, updates of all new smartphones and tabs, with exclusive offers and gifts on various products, are also available in different stalls. We invite everyone to attend the Expo.”
After the inauguration, the chief guest officially unveiled Samsung’s new 5G flagship S21 FE model smartphone. Entry to the Expo is free for everyone. However, it is required to wear a mask, and visitors are only allowed to enter after a temperature check.
As before, at the Expo, visitors will have the opportunity to try out the latest models of smartphones and tabs from the country’s smartphone manufacturers. Smartphones of different brands, including Samsung, OPPO, realme, Xiaomi, Tecno, Vivo, Walton, and One Plus, are available here. There are also several stalls and pavilions for smartphone accessories.
For the first time, there is a 5G experience zone at the Expo, which has been set up by the mobile operator Teletalk and supported (technological) by Huawei to provide the visitors an opportunity to experience 5G.
This year’s Expo is sponsored by mobile bands Samsung, OPPO, Vivo, realme, Tecno, and DX. Huawei is the technology partner of the Expo, while eCourier is the logistics partner.
