Hong Kong Police arrest 6 over ‘seditious publications’

Six senior current and former staff members of an online media business were arrested in Hong Kong on Wednesday morning, according to officials.

The six were arrested for “conspiracy to publish seditious literature,” according to the government.

Hong Kong police announced in a news release on Wednesday that they had conducted a search against a “internet media company,” with over “200 uniformed and plainclothes police officers” involved.

The three males and three women apprehended were not identified in the official police announcement, although it was stated that they were three men and three women.

The six are current or former employees of pro-democracy news website Stand News, according to Hong Kong broadcaster TVB.

Officers from Hong Kong police’s national security department searched the house of Hong Kong Journalists Association leader Ronson Chan, according to DW journalist Phoebe Kong.
