Before Donyell Malen, a Dutch striker, scored Dortmund’s late third goal, Haaland scored twice each side of halftime.
Dortmund can close the points deficit on Bayern, who stay on target for a 10th consecutive Bundesliga triumph after thrashing Stuttgart 5-0 on Tuesday.

Thorgan Hazard scored on his early well-timed ball in the box, but the goal was called offside.
Haaland then converted a penalty in the first half and headed in a Julian Brandt free-kick eight minutes from time, before Malen scored Dortmund’s third goal, which was also set up by Brandt’s final ball.
Dortmund also has a six-point lead over Leverkusen, who were beaten to a 2-2 draw at home by Hoffenheim on Wednesday.
