Tulip Rizwana Siddiq, a member of the British parliament and granddaughter of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, has been named the country’s shadow economic secretary.
“After nearly six years as Shadow Early Years Minister, I’m delighted to be taking on the post of Shadow Economic Secretary to the Treasury,” Tulip stated in a tweet (City Minister). In Rachel Reeves MP’s team as Shadow Chancellor, I’m looking forward to a new challenge.
It has been a honor to represent the early childhood sector on the Labour frontbench. Early education is critical in determining a child’s future prospects, and I will never stop advocating for those who give it to be properly recognized and rewarded.
They are really heroes who go unnoticed. There are far too many people to thank for all of their help in holding the government accountable in the early years.
I also battled for better support for vulnerable children, looked after children, those with SEND, and those entitled for free school meals as Shadow Minister for Children and Early Years.
Thank you to all of the activists and organizations who helped me with this project.
I am confident that my replacement will do an outstanding job advocating for children and those who fight to help them, and I wish her and the new Shadow Education Secretary every success.”
