In response to the increased number of instances of the new Omicron form, the US has made it obligatory for all entering passengers, including those from India, to carry a negative COVID-19 test report or proof of recovery from the disease.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), which is part of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), the new procedure will take effect on December 6.
“This amendment updates COVID-19 testing requirements for air passengers 2 years or older boarding a flight to the United States,” Indian government officials informed Indian-American community leaders on Saturday.
According to the new modified order, travelers must demonstrate a negative COVID-19 viral test result taken no more than 1 day before travel for aircraft departing from a foreign nation at or after 12:01 AM EST (5:01 AM GMT or 10:31 AM IST) on December 6, 2021.
Documentation of a negative SARS-CoV-2 virus test result from a specimen obtained no more than 1 calendar day prior to the passenger’s journey to the United States, or documentation of COVID-19 recovery in the previous 90 days, before they board their aircraft.
