The nation is commemorating National Mourning Day and the 46th martyrdom anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in a dignified and respectful manner today.
On the fatal night of August 15, 1975, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the majority of his family members were brutally murdered by some angry army personnel, and this slaughter is regarded as the worst in Bangladesh’s history.
The most heinous chapter in the country’s history.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Bangabandhu’s eldest daughter, avoided the planned assassination with her sister Sheikh Rehana because they were both abroad at the time.
The government has organized extensive programs to commemorate the 46th martyrdom anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Mourning Day with reverence and solemnity while adhering to health rules.
According to an official handout, the national flag will be flown half-mast at all government, semi-government, autonomous, educational, and private offices on the day as part of the program.
