The government has planned elaborate programs to commemorate the 46th martyrdom anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Mourning Day on August 15 with respect and solemnity while adhering to health rules.
The national flag will be flown at half-mast at all government, semi-government, autonomous, educational, and private entities on the day, according to an official handout distributed here today.
On August 15, floral wreaths will be put at the portrait of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in front of the city’s Bangabandhu Memorial Museum, and a munajat will be held there at 6.30 a.m.
The President and Prime Minister will lay wreaths at the image of Bangabandhu in front of the Bangabandhu Memorial Museum on Dhanmondi Road No. 32 in the capital, paying tribute to the architect of independence.
The Armed Forces will present a guard of honour, and prayers will be said.
At 7.30 a.m. on August 15, 1975, floral wreaths will be put at the graves of Bangabandhu’s martyred family members and other martyrs at Banani Graveyard in the city, and fateha and munajat will be offered.
Around 10 a.m., wreaths will be laid at the grave of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in Tungipara, Gopalganj district. Fateha will be presented, and a particular doa will be performed in order to maintain social distance.
The Prime Minister is due to pay tribute to the architect of freedom by depositing a wreath at Bangabandhu’s grave, with the Armed Forces providing a guard of honour.
Special munajats will be offered in all mosques across the country after Johr prayers, and special prayers will be held at all temples, churches, pagodas, and other places of worship at a convenient time to commemorate National Mourning Day.
